Tourist Visa
Norwegian citizens do not need to apply for a tourist VISA if they plan to stay less than 3 months in Chile.
Citizens from other nationalities have to consult the Consulate between 14.00 and 16.00, via phone or email to get guidance.
The following documents are needed for a tourist VISA application:
• Valid passport;
• Health certificates indicating that the petitioner does not suffer of any infect/contagious decease;
• Criminal background issued by the police.
• Application letter to the Consul explaining the time and the motives for staying in Chile.
• You must provide a clear description of your economic situation. (It could be monthly pay slip, or any financial statement)
• Contact person name, address in Chile.
• It is also advisable to include the applicant's telephone number and the date of travel
• 3 passport size photos of the applicant.

Temporary resident Visa
This type of visa is for people who have relatives in Chile, for foreign investors, researchers, scientists, and official members of a church, people beginning work as technical advisers for Chilean institutions or foreign enterprises. The requirements are the following.
• Family links to
 Chilean spouse,
 Chilean parents or children,
 Spouses or children of foreigners residing in Chile,
 Relatives of Chilean citizens, or
 Parents of foreign residents in Chile, older than 18 years old;
• Valid passport;
• Health certificates indicating that the petitioner does not suffer of any infect/contagious decease;
• Criminal background issued by the police.
• Application letter to the Consul explaining the time and the motives for staying in Chile.
• You must provide a clear description of your economic situation. (It could be monthly pay slip, or any financial statement)
• Address in Chile. If the applicant is married, the spouse also must fill the form and sign it.
• It is also advisable to include the applicant's telephone number and the date of travel
• 3 passport size photos.
IMPORTANT!
The process takes approximately 4 weeks. Once the visa is granted, the applicant has 90 days to enter the country.
It is necessary to get an appointment via email or phone in order to stamp the VISA in the applicant´s passport. The applicant will be informed of the price of the VISA when he gets in contact with the Consulate. The amount should be paid in the Consulate account: 60 300 57 22 11.
The applicant must appear in person, with his no more than 3 months old passport at the Consulate to pick up his VISA.
Work Visa
This VISA is given for those who have a valid work contract from a Chilean employee and plan to work there. For the application you will need to present the followings.
• Valid passport;
• Health certificates indicating that the petitioner does not suffer of any infect/contagious decease;
• Criminal background issued by the police.
• Application letter to the Consul explaining the time and the motives for staying in Chile.
• You must provide a clear description of their economic situation.
• Address and telephone of a contact person in Chile.
• If the applicant is married, the spouse also must fill the form and sign it .
• It is also advisable to include the applicant's telephone number and the date of travel.
• 3-photography passport size. In addition, the applicant must present a job contract from their employer. The job contract must be signed by the employer and legalized by a public notary in Chile. This document must also be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
It is necessary to get an appointment via email or phone in order to stamp the VISA in the applicant´s passport. The applicant will be informed of the price of the VISA when he gets in contact with the Consulate. The amount should be paid in the Consulate account: 60 300 57 22 11. The petitioner must appear in person to pick up the visa, with his valid passport and the receipt of the payment.
The maximum duration for this type of visa is two years. After this period, if the applicant wishes to stay in the country, s/he should apply for permanent residence status.
Revalidation can only be granted for 4 consecutive years.
Once the visa is granted, the individual has 90 days to enter Chile.
Student Visa
Requirements:
• Certificate of admission from a university or any educational institution recognized by the Chilean State;
• Evidence of scholarship or student loan (otherwise, the student must prove that s/he has sufficient resources to survive in the country -income certificate, parents economic support, etc.);
• Valid passport;
• Health certificates indicating that the petitioner does not suffer of any infect/contagious decease;
• Criminal background issued by the police (over 18 years of age); and
• 3 passport photos.
This Visa is granted for the duration of the studies, to a maximum of one year.
An appointment could be necessary
Important:
• The visa is renewable in Chile.
• Students are not allowed to work under this visa.
• Once the visa is granted, the student has 90 days to enter Chile.
• The petitioner must appear in person to pick up the visa.
